I have an extra credit assignment to find a 1970's song about a fungus. I have on idea what it could be though, any idea? There's some 1970's song that was about a fungus of some kind. Anyone know what song this could be?
';Mushroom'; is a song by the krautrock band Can, on their 1971 album Tago Mago. The track lasts for 4 minutes and 8 seconds, which is relatively short by Can's standards. A video was made for the track which has been shown on MTV.
The song has been noted for its similarity to the later ';Take Meta Mars'; by The Flaming Lips from their album In a Priest Driven Ambulance. It is also similar to ';Last Living Souls'; by Gorillaz
On frontman Damo Suzuki's album V.E.R.N.I.S.S.A.G.E, a version of this song is performed along with one of ';Halleluhwah';. His band at the time featured Can's Jaki Liebezeit on drums.
The song was covered by the band The Jesus and Mary Chain and is featured on the CD version of Barbed Wire Kisses. There's some 1970's song that was about a fungus of some kind. Anyone know what song this could be?
Does it have to be 1970's?
There was a Beatles song (written by George Harrison) that came out in 1968 (from the White Album) called ';Savoy Truffle';.
Although it was written about a box of chocolates, a truffle is actually a kind of fungus.
I don't have any idea if this might help, but here are the lyrics and a link to the song itself:

SAVOY TRUFFLE
Creme tangerine and montelimat
A ginger sling with a pineapple heart
A coffee dessert - yes you know it's good news
But you'll have to have them all pulled out
After the Savoy truffle.
Cool cherry cream and a nice apple tart
I feel your taste all the time we're apart
Coconut fudge - really blows down those blues
But you'll have to have them all pulled out
After the Savoy truffle.
You might not feel it now
But when the pain cuts through
You're going to know, and how
The sweat is going to fill your head
When it becomes too much
You're going to shout aloud
- Creme tangerine.
You know that what you eat you are,
But what is sweet now, turns so sour
We all know Obla-Di-Bla-Da
But can you show me, where you are?
Creme tangerine and montelimat
A ginger sling with a pineapple heart
A coffee dessert - yes you know it's good news
But you'll have to have them all pulled out
After the Savoy truffle.
Good luck!!!!
A fungus? As in Mushrooms? In the 70's.... sorry that is not narrowing it down very much. Did your teacher give you any further details to work with?
