Why do Fungi require a moist and warm environment to live?

I think it's because water/moisture is a vital nutrient of fungi (as it is will all organisms) but what does the temperature have to do with anything? Is it because if the temperature is too cold than the water will go away or something. Be as specific as you can.

Thanks peopleWhy do Fungi require a moist and warm environment to live?
Fungi can tolerate a wide range of temperatures and moisture content. For example, I just threw out a jar of fruit preserves that had gotten moldy in spite of being kept in the refrigerator! It had high sugar content and cold temperatures but mold still was able to grow. On the other hand, fungal parasites of animals will grow faster in warm temperatures. So it is hard to make a general statement about fungi needing moist, warm environments.
