Why does mold and fungi grow better on a moist surface?

Such as mold growing on bread, why will it grow better on a wet piece of breadWhy does mold and fungi grow better on a moist surface?
yes!

mold grows dark in moist areas, if you want to grow mold on a piece of bread sprinkle water on it, and put in a plastic bag (make sure all the air is out of it) then put it behind the dryer, for one to two weeks. Why does mold and fungi grow better on a moist surface?
They have trouble retaining water, also leaves and such decay easier which they then feed on.
As you can see the water is not that innocent..
mold needs water to grow
