How can fungus harm us? i know they kill food, make us sick, but what else?

There are several serious resoiratory infections caused by inhaled fungi: blastomycosis, histoplasmosis and coccidiomycosis. Also, aspergillosis can set up in a lung cavity.





It is possible to get a bloodborne fungal infection, disseminated candidiasis.





Of course, you can eat a poisonous mushroom





Food contaminated with Aspergillus may contain aflatoxins, very deadly byproducts.





And of course, less serious problems like oral thrush, vaginal candidiasis, ringworm, athlete's foot, danfdruff, etc, plus moldy bread. And moldy walls causing allergies





There is a meningitis caused by cryptococcus, especially in immune deficient patient.





Various fungal blights can destroy crops and affect the food supply.





I believe that it was a fungus that caused the Irish potato famine.How can fungus harm us? i know they kill food, make us sick, but what else?
There are many of different types of fungus. Some of hem are harmless. Some of them we even eat. Yeast and mushrooms, trufflss, penicillin are all types of fungus.

To clarify, mold is a type of fungus. Toxic mold is what you've probably heard about.
