How can I extract raw chemicals from plants and fungi?

please help me I am a begining chemist, at least tell me where to look?How can I extract raw chemicals from plants and fungi?
First, choose a solvent appropriate for the chemical you wish to extract. Then, grind the plant or fungus up in a mortar and pestle along with a little bit of the solvent you chose. Pass this mush through filter paper at least once. Next, look up the boiling point of the chemical you want to extract, and, using a fractional distillation apparatus, collect the appropriate fraction. It should be rich in the chemical of choice.
